What is Running for a Better Oakland?
Running for a Better Oakland (RBO) is a youth running program serving Kindergarten–12th grade Oakland students. Through weekly practices and participation in local races, students build confidence, community, and healthy habits that extend far beyond running.
Students train alongside experienced RBO coaches and dedicated volunteer mentors in a supportive, inclusive environment. Along the way, they learn goal-setting, perseverance, teamwork, and self-belief — skills they carry with them both on and off the run.
Running experience is not required. RBO welcomes runners of all abilities and backgrounds.
